World
Series of Poker T+5
Lucky
I'm not getting paid for my reporting
skills, I moved everyone up the ladder
in yesterday's rankings, and even transposed
two of the players, I blame it all on
the hangover.
Today
I headed over to Mirage for their well
run $120+100 limit holdem, about 70 players,
I could only manage 20th., luckily I won
most of the buyin beforehand in a CRAZY
6-12 holdem game.
Tonight
at 2am the power is supposed to have gone
off for a couple of hours (I don't think
it did, the clue being that I'm still
typing away) so I had to power down the
clock PCs tonight, I'm anticipating frantic
phone calls waking me up before noon.
Tomorrow is the final table of the Omaha
High, it should be a good one, a whole
bunch of action players are there, check
out these big names: Miami John, Phil
Hellmuth, Randy Holland, Barry Shulman.
Not
well advertised until now (they just issued
a flyer at Binion's) is that Palace Station
is running super satellites for 1/2 the
price of the Binion's ones: 6:15pm every
day, $125 (with rebuys), winner gets a
10K seat. T300 chips, 20 minute rounds,
rebuy first 4 levels when you have T300
or less, T300 chips for $100. At the break,
an add-on, single or double, gets you
T600 and T1200 for $200. 30 minute rounds
after the break. Also they have rooms
for $49 weekday, $69 weekend. Phone 702-367-2453.
Late
night steak special in the coffee shop,
$5 for a New York steak, baked potato,
veggie, salad, I have no idea what it
tastes like (my friend ordered it) because
I am now addicted to midnight brisket
for $5 (salad not included), the perfect
meal (endorsed by the AMA) before heading
off to bed.
Payout
of the dealer tips runs about two days
behind each event, so in the next couple
of days we'll be seeing if the dealers
are happy with their pay packets. I hope
they are because everything else about
this smoke free WSOP has been perfect,
not one single case of abuse, not one
chip missing or added, all events started
right on time, even my clock hasn't crashed
yet. Numbers are very slightly below last
year (maybe 5-10 less players), but that
is probably more due to economic circumstances
than the tip issue.
Today
I went over to Gamblers' Book Store and
got the books I've always meant to get
(Doyle's Super System and Ray Zee's hi-lo),
plus I got the number one best seller,
100 copies sold this week, of Sklansky's
tournament poker. Doyle's book has already
paid for itself, I sat on it during the
6-12 game and it added several inches
to my height, giving me a powerful new
image.
