I
did it again, I skipped a day and now
I'm expected to remember what happened.
I seem to recall going with a friend over
to Bellagio where I got us two free buffets
after accumulating points on WagerWorks
(it was a promotion, now ended). This
and Aladdin are the best buffets in town
(excluding the Ballys $50 one), $25 each
for dinner, but we saved the $50 and because
of the comp we walked right by the common
folk waiting in line, I sneered at them
as I sauntered by. If you haven't been
you have to try this place, everything
is a leap above the other buffets with
things like top quality king crab, venison,
rack of lamb, great smoked salmon, and
desserts to die (maybe literally). We
then went over to Harrahs where we got
kicked out of the Diamond Club (after
a successful entry last week) when they
decided to actually check the date on
my friend's Diamond card; apparently you
have to lose $20,000 every year, not just
last year, so no free glasses of cabernet
and port, no free desserts and sandwiches,
just a sneer from the maitre de as we
were demoted to common folk, oh the irony.
Today
was the final you've all heard about by
now of the 1.5K no limit holdem. This
is another classic not to be missed (you
can view it on Mark's pokerpages.com),
take note of Adeline Shayegan from England
playing her first ever tournament and
finishing 8th. 525 players, this was way
better than anyone had imagined and seemed
to confirm what I had been thinking, that
people had gone home last week during
the weirder events, and were now back
in force for the cheaper and more common
events. Even the super sats had a whole
bunch of tables today (I counted at least
9 at the 4pm super). I was over at Bellagio
again where on Tuesdays and Thursdays
at 11 a.m. they have a $330 super satellite,
no rebuys, 30 minute rounds, lasts about
3.5 hours and gets you a seat in the 5
day 10K event ($1,000,000 guaranteed)
at the end of May. I didn't play but had
a friend who did. Maria Stern won a seat
today, Bob Stupak is another who has already
entered the 10K event.
Meanwhile,
back at Binion's, tomorrow is the 1.5K
pot limit holdem, and yours truly will
be playing. I played two $175 pot limit
satellites tonight, chopped one, lost
one, for $350 profit, so with that plus
the $1,000 I won in satellites last week,
I almost have the buy in. I intend to
win which will put paid to the rumors
that I have never won a bracelet.
