World
Series of Poker T+30
T+30!!!
I've been here a month and it's just flown
by. It should have all been over for me
now, for these final days I was just planning
on playing the locals tourneys at Orleans
and Mirage, but now I have my miracle
magic bullet $225 entry into the big dance.
I'd like to say that I'm all pumped up,
excited and can't sleep, but the truth
is I consider myself such a supreme underdog
that if I could I'd jump at the chance
of selling my seat (you can't sell the
seat you win in a super satellite). So
I may be the most relaxed player there
tomorrow as I have no expectations to
meet, but I will be trying my very best
and will at least be able to report on
what it's like to be in the middle of
all of this.
I didn't do a lot today, but I did get
my first comp to the steak house. The
room is very nice, atop the hotel with
a fantastic view of the strip and the
valley. The food was very good, the lobster
bisque was fantastic. I went with two
people I have been very lucky to become
friends with over the last month, Kathy
Liebert and Diego Cordovez. Apart from
being two of the world's toughest tournament
poker players, they are also two genuinely
nice people. At dinner I carefully positioned
myself to give osmosis a chance, I even
had TJ sitting behind me, so I'm pretty
sure I must have picked up some super
powers for tomorrow.
As
expected, the super sats today were insane
with people snaked around the room waiting
to get a seat, my guess is that there
will be around 600 players with 1.5 million,
not 2, which would be fine with me as
I'd rather the lower place prizes were
larger. I watched Jack Fox play great
to win a single table sat tonight, so
he has his seat for tomorrow, well done
Jack. The single tables are going very
strong with about four running constantly.
Congrats
to our very own JohnnyD. He was almost
all in with 12 players left but made a
great comeback and went out at the final
table of the seniors today.
