Wow!
What a final table in the 2K limit holdem
today. Mike Majerus ran over them, playing
every hand, maybe even more than that,
then betting, raising, check raising all
the way to the river until there was no
way anyone could call unless they could
show down a hand. He had a huge chip lead
and beat them all up. I missed some of
the early action but apparently Ram Vaswani
had had most of the chips then got involved
in too many hands, he ended up third,
David Chiu sat patiently watching everyone
else get eaten alive by Mike, and came
second, Mike couldn't miss a flop and
won his gold bracelet, adding to his third
place finish in the employee event. Others
will describe the whole thing, and you
will soon be able to see the video broadcast
for free on line, but I saw hands such
as Mike's 65o offsuit rivering a straight,
his 33 flopping a set, his Q7s flopping
a flush, you get the idea. Not sure of
all the placings, Peter Costa I think
was 9th., TJ was about 4th. or 5th. There
was no deal discussion until it was heads
up, then David and Mike went away for
a while for a chat, I think Mike had David
2-1 in chips (800K to 400K), they came
back with no deal, then stopped the clock
again and decided to take 100K off of
first place, 60K to Mike, 40K to David,
then played on. So Mike ended up with
307K+60K for first, David with about 200K+40K.
I plan on asking both of them for my buy-in
to the 10K event.
Once
again, the chip count was perfect, not
one case of player abuse, today's event
started on time, it's looking good.
The
great tip debate appears to be an rgp
anomaly, I didn't get any details but
I heard that they were very happy with
the tip money today.
My
friend came into town today, he played
the 1.5K Omaha hi-lo, but no luck and
he was out early. Tomorrow he is playing
the 2K No limit. He came 2nd in the 3K
no limit two years ago and has assured
me he will be winning tomorrow, watch
for Paul Evans as one of the chip leaders
at the end of the day. I didn't play anything
today, I've decided to mainly play only
pot limit and limit holdem satellites,
and Mirage and Orleans tourneys to try
to get my buy ins for the events.
The
casino, in fact the whole of downtown,
is CROWDED! There is an artist who sits
outside of Binion's doing portraits, $50
for a color one, takes about 20 minutes;
he gets a crowd watching him all day because
he is incredible, every one I've seen
so far has been an exact likeness of the
customer. If you are coming to town bring
a photo of your family, for a little more
money he can do a painting from the photo.
BBQ
brisket in the coffee shop today, very
yummy.
In
other news I had an in depth interview
with Kathy Imelda Liebert; she has gone
crazy with her winnings, so far four new
pairs of shoes.
