Reno
Hilton World Poker Challenge - Day 13
Today
was the most popular event in all of tournament
land, NOT, the Pot Limit 7 Stud, about
25 entries, it was over before dinner
time and even before Steve Morrow got
there for his evening shift.
I
forgot to mention that yesterday Mike
Caro played and put a bounty on himself
for the second time, but this time he
requested that the players not laugh at
him when then busted him out.
A
bunch of us went bowling today (there's
a great bowling alley in the hotel), lots
of fun but the game was rigged, twice
I knocked down a pin and it didn't register
on the automatic scoring. I think the
shoe guy was in on it.
When I got back to the poker room a satellite
was just starting up, I jumped in and
it turned out to be the most bizarre game
I've ever played. With three left I had
a big chip lead, then I lost with my JJ
to AA (DOH!) and got short chipped, then
I made my stand and lost, shook hands
with the other two guys and was on my
way, until they called me back because
I had one chip left. Then I won the next
four hands in a row and we were all even
so we made a save of our buy in. Then
I won the next hand all in and now I was
monster chip leader and one of the other
guys had two chips left. Then he doubled
up three times to almost match my chips
and the other guy had two chips left!
Then I busted the guy with chips and we
were heads up, my opponent now with four
chips. Then he doubled up three times
and we were even. We split the money before
a lightening bolt hit the table.
I
mentioned in an earlier post that Reno
Hilton has again chosen the same dates
for next year. My thinking has been that
rather than compete with Tunica again,
Reno should have lower priced events (like
the Orleans Open) so all the big guys
can go to Tunica, and the hundreds of
players who prefer smaller events can
go to Reno. I heard rumors today that
they may be thinking of doing that very
thing (and maybe moving the more expensive
WPCIII to a different date), IMO this
would be a great solution for all of us.
Tomorrow
starts the four days of $225 events that
have been added to the schedule (no limit
and limit holdem I think), they start
at 2pm, just two hours after the 'main'
event ($1000 + rebuys pot limit Omaha
tomorrow) starts. This should bring in
the weekend crowds from Reno and California
and hopefully rejuvenate this tournament.
I don't know which event will get my clock,
I may have to cut my baby (the laptop)
in half.
Tomorrow
night is the PartyPoker freeroll, if you
see me on-line you'll know how I did in
the tournament.
