World
Poker Open - Day 2
A
little something for everyone. Today was
the first day of actual tournaments, and
we had plenty of them. Three to be exact.
At 12:00 noon the Ladies Holdem Championship
kicked off with 110 hopefuls vying for
the brass ring.
At
4:00 pm the inaugural A-5 Triple Draw
Lowball commenced. 87 entrants with 90
rebuys. A lot of high stakes players were
in there playing this $500 tournament.
It seems this game has become quite popular.
The
super satellites drew 126 entries and
155 rebuys. The numbers for the first
two days of supers were WPO record breakers
leaving us a tough task for next year.
I
did say there were three tournaments right?
The Celebrity Press Invitational started
at 6:00 PM Top prizes of $1500, $750 and
$250 went to their favorite charities.
RGP's own Keith (Fich) Fichtemaier and
Rick (DaVoice) Charles placed first and
second respectively (as if you can say
that word after mentioning those two).
Rick looked so funny strutting around
with his and Fich's huge placard checks
under his arm. He was beaming alright.
NBC may have found a replacement for their
time worn peacock.
All
in all, it was a great day. The food was
terrific and plentiful. The action hot
and heavy. But I still came away with
the feeling that this was just the calm
before the storm. Next up the $540 Omaha
Pot Limit with rebuys. Can't wait.
